I was in Radium to study the Redwall Fault, but honestly? This 1.5 story fireplace at the Radium Experience was the real structural highlight of my trip. As a geologist, I usually have to hike ten miles to see fluvial cobbles this well rounded and diverse. Here, I just had to sit on the sofa with a bourbon.

The mix of sandy beige quartzites and dark brown siltstones is a total mood, and the thermal mass kept the loft perfectly regulated while the valley air did its thing outside. If you’re looking for a spot that is architecturally metamorphic and physically grounded in the Kootenays, this is it.
